I am getting my thoughts together.
Truly.
I have taken almost two weeks off of Substack because I had a lot on my plate.
Sometimes, you have to make an executive decision on what gets your attention and what doesn’t.
This won’t be an outfits-heavy post.
I posted one this past week on my blog’s website (bellate22.com).
Anyway, I went off to move around my state a bit, visit some folks, and rest while also working.
Traveling and working is not as relaxing, but the change of scenery can be really nice.
I do well with a change in scenery.
My friend invited me to go with her to Seattle to visit her friends and go to her mentor’s book signing.
Super fun.
Everyone I met was truly the most kind-hearted of individuals.
Happy, authentic, inspiring.
My friend is literally one of my favorite people to travel with.
Lots of activities and just as much downtime.
I think I was in bed no later than 9 pm every night.
A dream.
I needed it. I can get a bit night-owl at times so it’s nice to have to reel it in.
Brings me back to the center pretty well, and we did a lot of fun things.
Her friends suggested the Locks because it was right by our brunch spot.
The Locks is basically where you can see boats coming in from the salt water to the freshwater, and you can see the salmon pass through as well.
It’s surrounded by a beautiful garden.
Truly so much fun. I felt like a kid watching the boats and the salmon.
Really great breakfast at Portage Bay ( the Ballard location). I got the Joe’s Scramble with chicken sausage. Toast as big as your face. Great black coffee.
Ballard has a large Nordic population, so up the street, they have a National Nordic Museum. We didn’t go in but they have a fantastic troll statue outside greeting guests.
Next, we hit up Uprising Brewing.
This is kind of on a brewery lane in Ballard.
Super great IPAs. I am an IPA girlie. I love myself some hops.
I think I got “Hop to Go” and “Bright Side.”
“Hop to Go” was new on tap, so it is not currently listed on the website. This was made with Yakima Valley hops, so it is a special beer, and priced accordingly.
If you can find it in-store, I would buy a pack.
It’s a fruity, hoppy floral with a bit of spice.
I am glad I tried it.
Next, we went to a book release and signing, which was super fun.
I got to meet a lot of fantastic people all weekend long.
On our way back home, we stopped at Hood Cafe in Chinatown.
I had seen a TikTok of their Ube and Pandan soft served (not on the menu). It tasted just as my brain imagined it would. That is rare.
Next, I tried their Ube cookie for the road (also so good).
Their coffee is also next level.
If you can get an Americano and enjoy it, you know their coffee is amazing!
I cannot wait to go back and try more of their menu.
Hood Famous Cafe + Bar is directly next to the Publix building and across from the train station.
Anyways, I will sprinkle in some photos of my trip.
Oh yes. Can’t forget Dick’s. We have one in Spokane. However it’s always fun to get a Dick’s burger anytime you see one in Seattle.
TTYL-
