Fashion & Makeup Are Political
For those who don't talk about politics -- you sure do like to wear it!
We have entered a dangerous time — A time where it is offensive to be politically correct and a time when calling out harmful behavior is seen as something to be deemed the most offensive crime of all.
Many people skirt over issues that need to be discussed because society is so easily manipulated — with influencer culture helping to move the needle in a direction that can be helpful or harmful.
Many people try to work around offending others by avoiding political jargon altogether, especially in online spaces, where many house their businesses and online personalities.
Cancel Culture
No one wants to be quote-on-quote "cancelled" because society dishes out discards like candy instead of offering grace and nuance.
Perhaps this happens because apologies from online personalities usually come up again and again with little to no change in behavior, and often from the same offenders.
It’s easier for audiences to disengage entirely.
Politics are in your offices, boardrooms, and social media — politics are alive and well where you live and where you vacation, they govern how and who you love and how you have or don’t have children.
Political issues are everywhere, even in places that seem free from political influences.
People Minimizing Fascism
I just saw a YouTube video that asked if America was in hysterics after Trump won the election. They were asking if it was an accurate picture or one that was being painted by the UK media.
In the video, this person seemed to suggest that a Trump presidency was not as big of a deal as the media was painting it out to be, and people would be fine regardless.
He posed it as a question, but it was more a statement so as to not offend anyone who supports fascist ideals.
What a bad take.
Are people on every continent just forgetting how Nazi Germany got into power in the first place?
Melania Trump & Her Choice of Silhoutte
Hitler rose to power while Germany was experiencing a huge economic downturn. Using his charisma and propaganda tactics, gaining traction with his hate speech — Marketing it toward a group of marginalized people (I always thought it was ironic because Hitler himself wasn’t even his perfect human prototype, and people still bought his game plan).
So, you can imagine my shock and horror when I saw Melania Trump doing her darnedest to mimic a women’s Nazi uniform in silhouette and color the night Donald won the election.
Was she signaling that Donald would make good on his promises to carry out "mass deportations on day one"?
Is America entering Donald's version of Nazi Germany? Is it just a dream? His dream.
As an American citizen, I fear Europe has just as many sleepy everyday citizens and just as many unhinged far-right nationalists as we do in America.
Far-right political parties have emerged in many European countries and always feel emboldened and stronger when America takes the lead.
Many of the safeguards that America and Europe entered into after WW2 are now being threatened by Donald Trump and Vance. Vance tweeted that they may take America out of NATO if Europe goes after X (Elon Musk's app) for free speech.
We will get to Elon Musk later.
It would seem that not many of our current generations (in America) remember much about how Germany fell victim to the Nazi party (or they simply do not care).
It’s not their fault entirely to be completely honest. Our education system and government have not been able to really grapple with literacy for a minute now.
54% of Americans between the ages of 16 through 74 lack literacy and proficiency skills.
Everywhere you turn, people are downplaying the glaringly red signs.
I did a deep dive into Nazi propaganda, and it came close to Donald Trump's own propagandist marketing strategies.
Not only that, but Trump isn’t some master genius. He’s just very good at lying, stealing other people’s playbooks (Hitler), and pandering to an ignorant and greedy base.
He is also the son of a man who was once arrested at a “Klan riot in Queens in 1927.”
Donald Trump's presidential run was once even endorsed by the modern-day KKK back in 2016.
What is the appeal of Donald Trump? He is glaringly average, speaks his outrageous and wrong mind, and supposedly has a lot of money -- which appeals to people who also aspire to be like him or find commonalities between his traits and theirs.
He’s good at somehow telling people how much he hates them, and yet he somehow is still able to get them to eat every word he says as if they are under some strange trance.
Donald is the snake that is about to engorge himself on their lifeblood, and his supporters just stand there — anticipating their cut of his hunt, not understanding that they themselves are being hunted by their human idol.
He turns against the people who help him (when they stop enabling him), and his supporters love him all the more, targeting those he has fallen out with instead of seeing Trump himself as the issue.
They stand by him even when he leaves them stranded at Coachella.
Donald has a strong trauma bond with his supporters and has them eating out of the palm of his hand as he touts bigger words to his crowds like the word “tariff.”
Misleading them into a fine print they cannot comprehend. Many people repeat his words, promises, and sentiments excitedly — some not even realizing that they will have to pay for the tariffs he passes (that they so eagerly and ignorantly supported).
Devilishly evil of Donald, but they love him for it when they think that the bills are being given to anyone else but themselves.
They will be in for a surprise.
Could it be that they just see themselves in all his evil?
That their true vengeance against their own country and fellow citizens somehow seems justified?
Musk & His Appeal to Trumps Base
Trust and believe that every person near Trump is both genius and simple-minded.
Elon Musk is his poster child of a simple, mad genius hype man. Elon Musk is a man who is good at math, science, business, procreation, making ugly cars that sometimes light on fire accidentally, and very good at telling on himself, per Joe Rogan.
How Mae Musk & Elon’s father single-handedly made their son so entitled is beyond me (yet hints are there if you look for them).
“Don’t worry! Mummy will take the interview for you and tell the press just how your point of view is brilliant. My sweet boy!” She never said that.
Here is what she actually did said.
I will paraphrase for you -- “I was a Democrat, but they lied about Elon, so now I am a Republican.”
Did they lie, Mae, or did you just excuse all your son's weird and bad behavior?
No one bats an eye. Trump followers eat it up.
Billionaires just sort of amaze the masses.
Somehow this nepo billionaire and his behavior melts into the cutest, good boy you ever did see!
They trick the masses by dressing seemingly drab. Think Steve Jobs — look at Elon Musk.
Tricking people who will never see the amounts of money they (the billionaires) have, by tricking them into thinking that because these people dress in seemingly normal clothes (that everyday people could never afford) somehow can make people feel at ease around the idea of someone who is essentially a wolf in sheep's clothing.
“I am a normal guy --- buy my Tesla.”
Musk is a modern-day Batman in Gotham City. Didn't you know?
Elon represents the ego of many, but unlike many, he actually has the cash flow to back it up, so when he says things like -- “Let me buy Twitter.”
Musk looks like a flashy, cool kid.
Why else do you think people are eating up the quiet luxury trend? It feeds the delusion of an American dream that the elite are stripping away from the middle and working class (look into the Trump administration and their economic plan).
It does make the mind reel and then reel some more.
The Color Red
Red was a huge color used in a lot of Nazi propaganda, which is why Trump really zeroed in on his red hat.
Great propaganda also boasts a CTA (call to action) in an easy slogan like “Make America Great Again.”
Red signals his campaign base (party affiliation), with his slogan doubling down that he means business.
A good CTA also signals to his voter base a point in time in American history where people with a similar ideology easily dream of.
They know, and we know what era of time they are referring to.
Moments in American history with segregation, land grabbing, and slavery — but they refuse to say that part out loud.
Enter in the gaslighting.
If you love his policies and are not making over $400,000 a year, I can almost assure you that you did not read or understand the policies his administration is planning on carrying out.
WW2 & Red Lipstick
To counter Melania and her Nazi Silhouetted suit that looks like it has been resurrected from the depths of hell itself (because of her sinister Nazi signaling).
Why don’t we travel back in time to the Allies of WW2?
To counter Hitler. Allied women got petty as they fought in the resistance.
Hitler hated makeup and hated red lipstick even more.
Why did he hate makeup? Because apparently, he had a soft spot for animals (he was a vegetarian) — just not most humans.
Makeup back then was known to have animal fat as an ingredient.
Whether women “were working in factories, on the battlefield,” or helping in other ways — red lipstick was a sign of resistance, bravery, and courage.
So, you see.
Makeup and fashion can be used to offer your own stances on resistance.
While some may use it to oppress others, I hope you wear your makeup and fashion choices to rally the underdog.
I also wanted to bring awareness to the dangers of virtue signaling dangerous ideologies and hope you will start to call them out if you see them yourself.
This topic is vast and varied. I hope I was able to touch on a small part of fashion, makeup, and politics.
xx,
Nikita
